Flag Colors and Description

The South African flag depicts a central green band which splits into a horizontal Y, the arms of which end at the corners of the hoist side, separating the flag into various areas. The Y embraces a black isosceles triangle on the hoist side; the arms of the Y are separated from the black by narrow yellow bands. The top section away from the hoist side is red and the bottom section is blue; the red and blue bands are separated from the green band and its arms by narrow white stripes.
